Abandoned Buildings |

|
Today Carmarthen Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention Team have been out conducting joint visits with the Fire Service to derelict buildings in the Carmarthen area due to recent reports of youths entering these properties and causing criminal damage by means of graffiti.
Exploring or entering abandoned structures carries severe, often hidden risk. What looks like an adventure can quickly turn life-threatening.
Hazards; Structural Collapse- Rotting timbers, compromised concrete, and weekend roofs or staircases can give way without warning.
Hidden Drops- Missing floorboards, and open manholes are frequently hidden by darkness or debris
Rapid Fire Spread- In derelict buildings, holes in floors, missing doors and smashed windows create a chimney effect, feeding oxygen to a fire and letting it spread incredibly fast
Trespassing- Can result in legal action
If you have any concerns over derelict or abandoned buildings, contact the local authority, Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police or Mid and West Wales Fire. | ||
